Support Key Priorities in 2025 with Your Gift to the Conservancy's Annual Fund

Hello Parks Friends,

With a full slate of exciting projects in 2025, I hope you will consider a donation to the Conservancy’s Annual Fund.

Why parks? Because parks provide space for exercise and fun. They are commons where everyone can gather and connect with one another. Parks allow us to experience the transformative benefits of nature. They are settings where our natural ecosystems can flourish. They protect us from rising seas and intensifying storms. Parks create livable urban spaces for all.

The mission of the Portland Parks Conservancy is to strengthen our city’s dynamic parks and recreation system so that everyone can experience these benefits. By fundraising and engaging our community, the Conservancy is helping to improve neglected green spaces, establish new parks, build new facilities, grow our tree canopy, mobilize volunteers, and nurture the next generation of park stewards.

Our Priorities in 2025:

Portland Youth Corps

In its fifth season, Portland Youth Corps will engage dozens of Portland teens from varied backgrounds in intensive multi-week sessions that focus on science learning, professional development, outdoor adventure, and community service.

A New Community Pool for Portland

The Conservancy is committed to raising $1 million to help build a dynamic new outdoor aquatics center to replace the aging Kiwanis pool at Dougherty Field.

Portland Harbor Common

After raising more than $2 million through a federal earmark for a beautiful new park on the eastern waterfront, the Conservancy continues to fundraise for additional items like swings, signage and benches ahead of its opening in late 2025.

Riverton Trolley Park

Following several years of planning and fundraising, improvements to Riverton Trolley Park are taking shape, including a new bike park, pollinator meadow, wayfinding and interpretive signage, and major upgrades to the parking area.

Urban Forestry

The Conservancy is raising funds for a forestry management plan that will create a more substantial, biodiverse, and equitably distributed tree canopy in our city.

North Deering Park

After supporting the acquisition of Portland’s newest park in 2023, the Conservancy continues to help create and improve trails and other amenities in this tucked-away gem.

Volunteerism

The Conservancy helps coordinate dozens of volunteer events annually, focusing on trash cleanup, invasive plant removal, tree care, and trail improvements.

Parks Programming

The Conservancy organizes Third Thursday Walks, and supports and promotes partners’ parks-based programming like the Portland Lantern Walk and Re-Forest the City.

To support these special initiatives, please consider making a donation online here or by mailing a check made out to Portland Parks Conservancy to 212 Canco Rd Suite A Portland, ME 04103. Thank you for considering and for all you do for Portland’s parks.

With gratitude,

Jack Phillips, Executive Director
